How to make SQL Server instances and databases available often vexes many Virtualization and the public changes the game completely ... yet at the same time don't. This session will cover what you need to know about availability for non-physical SQL Server deployments as well as what it also means if you need to use traditional hardware. Not only will the built-in availability features such as Always On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances be discussed, but also how platform features can - and possibly should not - be used to increase availability. If you're responsible for SQL Server, this session is one you cannot miss.

You will learn:

  • Understand the differences between on premises and cloud-based approaches to SQL Server availability
  • Understand the availability options for SQL Server
  • Understand platform-level features and what they can/cannot do
